Sand Cap
To achieve first class drainage and turf, the entire course is covered with a 20 – 25 cm deep layer of USGA sand. The clay ends up below the sand and the course dries out more rapidly, in the same way as seaside courses that are built on sand. In order to make the sand layer 60,000 tons of sand, the equivalent of 3,000 lorry loads, was transported here.
