Bunkers

The bunkers contain the finest crushed
marble.Each bunker has a 5-7 cm thick layer of the finest crushed marble. This means that the texture is always the same, whatever the weather. It’s also beautifully white. The sand comes from the area around Örebro and costs about seven times as much as ordinary bunker sand. But the result is so good, and so good looking, in the 23,000 m² of bunkers.

All the bunkers have porous sheeting
below the sand, known as a sand trap

In all the steep bunkers porous sheeting is laid below the sand to avoid the ball becoming plugged on the slope, to hold the sand in place and to avoid the sand being eroded in heavy rain, as well as keeping the sand clean. This method is called a sand trap.
