Fairways

Bro Hof will be the first course in Stockholm and the third in Sweden to use creeping bentgrass on the fairways. In order to enable the course to cope with rain, all the fairways slope down to catch basins.

The type of grass is called Penn Trio, a mix of Penn Link (high shoot-density and disease resistance, good drought and heat resistance), Penn Cross (aggressive and hardwearing)

The Penn grass types are more resistant, need less water
and fertilizer and are therefore more environmentally-
friendly. In addition, the grass provides a better feel for the
ball.
and Penn Way, most appropriate for the soil type and climate.

Penn allows a lower cutting height (6-7 mm compared to the Swedish norm of 10-15 mm) with a higher density, which means that the ball lies cleanly on the grass, allowing a better strike and feel for the ball.
The Penn grass types are hardier, need less water and fertilizer and are therefore more environmentally friendly. Their disadvantage is that they require more maintenance, e.g. vertical cutting and dressing once a month instead of once a season.

Three-percent slope

All the fairways have a three percent slope in order to avoid water collecting and so that the surface water will be able to drain into drainage ditches, surface water drainage or catch basins, which means that it should be possible to play golf even on days with torrential rain. The fact is that the drains should be able to cope with a 20-year rain event, i.e. rains up to 136 mm/hour. In comparison, it rains about 546 mm per year in Stockholm
